The GeneTrap Resource

Component 1 of the BayGenomics project uses gene-trapping in embryonic stem cells to inactivate 2,500 random genes per year. Component 1 is led by Dr. William Skarnes, an Assistant Professor of Genetics at UC-Berkeley. Dr. Marc Tessier-Lavigne, a Professor of Anatomy/Biochemistry and Biophysics at Stanford and an HHMI Investigator, and Dr. Stephen Young, Project Director, are also active investigators in this component. Drs. Skarnes and Tessier-Lavigne are responsible for all of the cell culture work.
