These computer tutorials are designed to mimic research situations. Tutorial one explores the characterization of unknown DNA sequences. Two deals with exploring the associated protein sequence. Exploring protein structural information is the focus of the third tutorial. Additional optional exercises are available for those individuals who want to explore the selected topics in more detail.

The tutorials are written based on the assumption that the user is familiar with basic computer operations. Instructions are written so that any necessary parameter changes are given for a particular web site. Otherwise always use the default values for any visited page. A more detailed step by step example is given for each of the three initial labs to serve as a help guide. These guides are linked to the main tutorial pages at numerous points.
